The coordinator works closely with the Subcommittee Chair, who recruits the speaker, schedules the seminars, and promotes them in the Whisker Pole with both an article about the Seminar and the calendar event for the Fleet Exercises.

Saturday Seminars are offered once a month during the non-sailing season of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March, and April. 

It is best to select the Saturday in the month that is just before that month’s SOS Brunch. This helps with members that may be coming from out of town.

The Seminar targets topics that appeal to skippers, first mates, and other boat owners in the club. Depending on what month Spring Training is held, that month will not need the seminar.

Every year we offer the Seminar – Raft Captain Training.

There is one Seminar Coordinator per seminar. In general, the coordinator arrives at the seminar early to set up the food and drink for the event. They greet the attendees, assist the speaker as needed, and handle the paperwork associated with expense reimbursement.
